I recently worked on a collaboration with fellow artist Brian Demeter. We decided to make it a fun project, an homage to one of our favorite superheroes. Brian came up with the ideas — the Lois Lane street sign, a bird, a plane in the background, and the title “Duty” — and I drew the linework that he used as the basis for a painting. It was a really fun project and we both thought we got the better end of the work. Hopefully there’ll be more collaborations down the line.
He let me keep his painting, which I proudly hang on my wall. As a “thank you” to him, and so that he could have his own piece of art from our collaboration to hang on his wall, I did my own version of the scene in my watercolor & color pencil sketchbook style.
You can see a bit of the process on Brian’s blog here.
